Laura Evans Joins Furzebrook Studios

We are delighted to have Laura Evans, print maker and artist join us in our little creative community. Laura is best known for creating atmospheric collagraph prints and paintings which she skillfully applies to bespoke lamps and cushions. Influenced by her background in archaeology, her work draws on themes from the landscape. Laura will be selling a selection of her work from her studio and running print making classes throughout the year.

Opening Day Success

Throughout the day, more than 200 people visited the studios for our opening event, many more than we ever expected! Music was provided by Tom Pointer, a rising name on the London music scene, original works of art and tasty treats was won in the raffle, Rachel Fooks’ sculpture fondly known as ‘the ugly fish’ was auctioned off, with the winning bid of £100.01… the only disappointment was that we ran out of mulled wine within the first hour! A big thank you to all those that joined us and helped us make this special day a success.

Opening Celebration

We’d love you to join us to celebrate the opening of Furzebrook Studios.

The details of the event are as follows:
Location: Furzebrook Studios, 52 Furzebrook Road, Wareham, Dorset BH20 5AX
Date: Sunday, 26th November 2017
Time: 12pm – 4pm

There will be a team of helpers serving tea, coffee, cake, mulled wine & mince pies throughout the event for you to enjoy.

Open studios
All 6 artists will be opening their studios for you to explore. There is a mixture of ceramics, art, printmaking, silver/gold jewellery and a scenic model maker.

The foyer houses a good selection of Rachel Fook’s work for sale – perfect for getting some Christmas presents! The other artists will also have a range of beautifully made hand-crafted items for you to purchase. In addition, the people who attend Rachel Fook’s pottery classes and Julie Herring’s art classes will also be showing a selection of their pottery and art.

There will be a raffle with many fantastic prizes, including a voucher of £75 (to be spent on a sculpture of your choice from Rachel Fook’s ceramics collection).

Rachel Fooks has a very ugly fish that she made some time ago that desperately needs a home! So, for a bit of fun and for the ugly fish to find a new home, she’ll be selling it to the highest bidder!

We’ll also be having ‘Tom Pointer’ singing for us. Tom is a recording artist who takes influence from musicians such as Alabama Shakes, James Bay and D’Angelo. Lovely!

Car Parking
Whilst we’re extremely fortunate to have lots of car parking space, unfortunately, due to the driveway being single track, we can’t use the car park for this event. However, there’s loads of parking along the roadside directly outside of the premises which is totally ok to use.

We really hope you can come, hopefully, see you there!
